In Act I, The Boy is born during the track Baptism of Fire (english translation), it's talking about his birth.
It says in Blood of the Rose (in Spanish) that.īaptism of fire (although everyone can interpret it their own way) clearly means giving birth (baptism) out of lust/love/burning passion (fire, plus the conception and birth of The Boy all took place in a brothel).
Leading behind after Act II, he got her pregnant first and had no clue. I'm dying to know what happens after Act III!!! And I'm dying to know if my theory is correct, and that when The Boy left Ms. Hola! This will be the third time I've reposted this comment on this sub, but I want you to see it! Don't care about karma, just discussion! The Boy is enraged and poisons the father with the vial given to him by the woman in the village and then goes AWOL, presumably to assume the identity of his now-dead half-brother and take care of his mother. As he's dying, the half brother realizes that The Boy looks a lot like him and he asks The Boy to take care of his mother. In another battle the half brother sacrifices himself to protect the wounded Father who shows no remorse at the death of his son but rather relief that he himself survived. Terri leading The Boy to realize that his savior and new friend is actually his half brother and that this dude is his Father. Terri) including how he had sex with a prostitute named Ms. At camp that night another guy, the father of the new friend of The Boy, tells a story about his experiences in the Big City (home of Ms. He's saved by a guy who he befriends almost instantly. Near the camp The Boy crosses a battlefield and gets hit with some Mustard Gas.
He finds a woman in a village who gives him a bottle of poison before he makes his way to an ally camp to which he was directed by a thief who was stealing from dead soldiers and who planted a seed in The Boy's head that his actions are no worse than being involved in a war as a soldier in the first place. In Act 3 The Boy is in the war (assuming it is WWI given the track 1878 taking place when he was a little tyke and the description of the nature of the warfare throughout this album) and he gets separated from his platoon. Eventually he sees her with another man, as is her profession, and he gets crazy jealous and the relationship ends, causing the boy to leave the city. Leading and falls in love, but he can only see her if he can pay for her time, so the Pimp (and the Priest as mentioned in Act I) hires him as Ms. My memory is a bit hazy as to exactly why he went there, but I think it was to learn more about her life before she had him and what lead her down the path of prostitution.Īnyway, he meets Ms. Terri died in order to reach the city from which she fled. The tree featured in the album art was the farthest away from home he'd ever been (which was either just beyond the River to the north or just on its banks) prior to the events at the beginning of Act II where he ultimately boarded the Delphi Express train after Ms. It's between the Lake to the South and the River to the North.
Terri sought refuge, and where The Boy aka TDH grew up. IIRC, The Lake and the River is actually in reference to the village in which Ms. I would like it if people could contribute to an explanation/discussion of each track. So I gave a quick summary but each song tells a surprising amount of detail of TDH's life and the world that he lives in. TDH also meets his father and the album concludes with 'Life and Death'.(wwI?) After being hurt by Ms.Leading, TDH leaves The Rive and the Lake.Īct III: TDH has grown into man and joined the war efforts and the album depicts the war. The album tells the story of TDH growing up and falling in love then being hurt by that love. Here he falls in love with a prostitute named Ms.Leading ("misleading"). The album exposes that TDH's mother is a prostitute, named Ms.Teri, (Mystery) and running to escape her enemies.Īct II: TDH is now orphaned and in a new city, (in a city i think called the rive and the lake?). So as you guys probably know the The Dear Hunter albums Act I, Act II, and Act III all tell a narrative of a character who i like to call TDH.Īct I: In Act I it begins with a TDH running with his mother, who is running from her past.
